A Birthday Fundraiser for Restoration and Protection

On March 1st, I turned 69.
Here is what 69 means to me this year:

Protection.

Six is the number of the guardian.
Nine is the number of the humanitarian.
Sixty-nine is the year of stepping fully into both.

Recently, during prayer and divine guidance, I saw something I cannot unsee.

I was in a public place. A man was walking beside a young girl.

Something felt wrong.

I walked up to them, wrapped my arms around her, and said with joy,
“I haven’t seen you in so long. It’s so good to see you. Come have coffee with me. Let’s catch up.”

I placed my arm around her shoulders and gently guided her away.

She was frozen. Terrified. Silent.

I took her by the shoulders, looked into her eyes, and said:
“I come with a whole host of angels and protectors and guides. You are safe.”
And in that moment, I understood something:

There are girls like her everywhere.
Frozen.
Silenced.
Waiting for safety.
Waiting for someone to interrupt the cycle of harm.
Waiting for someone bold enough to stand in the gap.

That is why, for my 69th birthday, I am partnering with
You Are My Light Foundation & Trust, a nonprofit organization
dedicated to the long-term restoration of adult survivors of human trafficking.

While rescue may remove someone from immediate danger, healing and restoration require safe housing, trauma-informed care, vocational training, and long-term support.

You Are My Light exists to build restorative residential centers where survivors can rebuild their lives with dignity, stability, and practical pathways to independence.

Freedom is not abstract.
It is personal. It is urgent.
It is sustained through community.

Instead of birthday gifts, I am inviting you to help fund restoration, protection, and long-term freedom.

Here is what 69 means this year:

69 people giving $69, or $690, or $6,900 collectively, or whatever you feel called to give.

Every dollar helps create safe environments.
Every dollar helps fund trauma-informed care.
Every dollar helps build sustainable independence for survivors rebuilding their lives.

This is not about fear.
This is about courage.

It is about becoming the woman or man who walks toward what others walk past.

As I enter 69, I choose to stand in the space between harm and healing.
If this vision moves you,
If you believe survivors deserve not just rescue, but restoration,
If you feel called to be part of long-term freedom,

Join me.

Let’s become the interruption to exploitation.
Let’s become the safe place after survival.
Let’s become the ones who say, “You are not alone. Your life can be rebuilt.”

Peace,
